Lochlea was a cattle farm when it was originally acquired it in 2006. Extending some 222 acres, they realised that for a farm of that size to be viable, they needed to do something very different.
Barley had historically been grown on the farm land, largely as livestock feed, so in 2015, Lochlea embarked on an experiment, growing 50 acres of malting barley.
Working away quietly, learning from their (not too frequent) mistakes, exploring the possibilities and making contacts in the malting industry gave us the confidence to make a big decision: they'd develop and operate a grain-to-glass single malt distillery at Lochlea.

The Ardnamurchan peninsula is a wonderfully remote “finger” of rocky land that stretches out to the furthest westerly point of the UK, just to the north of the Isle of Mull, and south of the Isle of Skye.
This Western Highlands destination is famous for its outstanding and untouched beauty and abundance of natural resources. The Ardnamurchan Distillery opened in July 2014 and is situated half way along the peninsula in the small village of Glenbeg.

Guided by revered Master Distiller, Billy Walker, ‘Meikle Tòir’ (meaning ‘big pursuit’) is peerless peated single malt completely hand-crafted at GlenAllachie Distillery in Speyside.
Being independent, they have complete freedom to do things their way. Every step of the whisky-making journey is meticulously considered and masterfully optimised to steer the ensuing aromatic and flavour characteristics of the whisky.
Using premium mainland peat for an oaky, sweet smoke style, a process of extended fermentation, exacting distillation, and expert maturation elevates the spirit to its pinnacle. After years of patient slumber, the spirit within each cask must meet the rigorous standards of Billy Walker and his team in order to reach the bottle.
The Isle of Raasay Distillery is the first legal distillery to be founded on the Isle of Raasay in the Inner Hebrides. Its history, however, is rooted in centuries of ilicit distillation which had previously taken place on the island.
The distillery produces both single malt whisky and gin, all hand-crafted by natives of this remote, wind-swept Scottish island.

Kilchoman Distillery was founded in 2005 and is the first distillery to be built on Islay for over 120 years. It is a farm distillery and a proportion of the barley used in production is grown and malted at the distillery. Kilchoman displays all that is great about the grass-roots traditions of Scotch whisky distilling. As well as being one of only a handful of distilleries still practicing floor malting, barley is also grown on the farm, making Kilchoman the only distillery to complete all parts of the whisky making process on site. Kilchoman truly is Islay’s farm distillery – from barley to bottling.
